Tooth whitening: effective & safe, gentle & mild

Teeth are colored by the foods and drinks we consume. Smoking further stains teeth and the natural bright, white shade becomes darkened. Teeth whitening is a successful and simple method of lightening the colour of your teeth. The degree of whiteness achieved will vary from patient to patient and with the type of bleaching process chosen. Crowns, bridges, Inlays, synthetic or amalgam fillings are not bleachable.
Our 1-hour whitening can whiten teeth by up to several shades, brightening your teeth dramatically to its natural shade. Your lips and gums are covered and a gel is applied to your teeth. A special light is positioned over your teeth to activate the gel, which gently penetrates your teeth, breaking up stains and discolouration. Whiter, brighter teeth in less than an hour!

Dental Sealants

Sealants protect the occlusal surfaces of the teeth, inhibiting bacterial growth and providing a smooth surface which increases the probability that the surface will stay clean. The key aim of sealants is penetrating the pit and fissures of the tooth and sealing them from bacteria.

Traditionally, sealant are a preventive measure for children and teenagers when they are in their “cavity prone years”. Patients who have xerostomia (decreased salivation), or are undergoing orthodontic treatment, show evidence of incipient caries, or who are prone to caries should be evaluated as patients for sealant placement. Primary molars also can benefit from the placement of sealants.

Veneers & Laminates

Veneers and Laminates are ultra-thin facings of porcelain or resin which once bonded to the fronts of teeth, which can subtly or dramatically change the appearance, color, size and shape of a tooth.

Porcelain veneers are highly resistant to dental stains and can restore a smile back to a healthier, brighter, more “ideal” look. And, with “prepless” veneers, no dental anesthesia (dental shots) are needed.

Chairside laminates can look just like porcelain veneers and are similar to cosmetic bonding and are completed in just one office visit.

 Making of an aesthetic filling

The treatment is done with a local anaesthetic. The dentist cleans the decayed parts of the teeth with a drill, then seals the tooth preventing post sensitivity. This way, between the filling and the tooth there is an insulation. Next, the dentist places a thin glue layer over the tooth surface, and builds up the filling in layers. The layers are lighted by an UV lamp which hardens the filling material hardened. The filling surface is drilled to the appropriate form. Finally, the finished surface is polished.

Complications after filling

Cold - warm -, and bite on sensitivity might occur for a maximum of a week or two. The anaesthetic injection point can also be sensitive for a day or two. Due to coffee, tea, coke, smoking, different food colourings, the filling and the teeth will be discoloured by time.

 Professional Dental Cleaning

Professional dental cleaning (dental prophylaxis) is usually performed by Registered Dental Hygienists. Your appointment will include a dental exam and the following:

  • Removal of calculus (tartar): Calculus is hardened plaque that has been left on the tooth for some time and is now firmly attached to the tooth surface. Calculus forms above and below the gum line and can only be removed with special dental instruments.

  • Removal of plaque: Plaque is a sticky, almost invisible film that forms on the teeth. It is a growing colony of living bacteria, food debris, and saliva. The bacteria produce toxins (poisons) that inflame the gums. This inflammation is the start of periodontal disease.

  • Teeth polishing: Remove stain and plaque that is not otherwise removed during tooth brushing and scaling.
